PLUTO

We learned that there is nine of you in old man Murphy’s class
Some of you are solid an’ the rest are full of gas
Now they say you’re just an ol’ washed up eccentric rock
Kicked out of the cosmic neighborhood upscale block
Pluto, wanderin’ free in the cold fringes of space
Vetoed to a planetary science basket case
You strayed inside of Neptune, many miles from a proper course
An now Charon your faithful moon is filin' for divorce
Like that cartoon dog who stole your name, you’re miscast an’ abused
Leavin’ loyal friends here on earth cryin’ and confused
Spinin’ in a wild, weird orbit, billions of miles from any sun
May be a little on the frigid side, but you never hurt no one
Pluto, wanderin’ free in the cold fringes of space
Vetoed to a planetary science basket case
You strayed inside of Neptune, many miles from a proper course
An now Charon your faithful moon is filin' for divorce
You may have been a little too inclined to march to your own drum
A wayward rock an’ rollin’ soul, social outlaw, maverick gypsy on the run
Pluto, wanderin’ free in the cold fringes of space
Vetoed to a planetary science basket case
But they’ll get their just reward of mockery an’ heathen shame
When God’s angels vote you into the planetary hall of fame
