DANDY LYIN' DARLIN'
[ country ]

Treatin’ me like a royal queen an’ promisin’ to take care of my needs
He stood out like a rare wild flower in a field of untamed weeds
With almost perfect manners and the way he fills those designer clothes
Everyone says he’s drop-dead gorgeous, what’s inside Lord only knows

He’s my dandy lyin’ darlin’and all he does is lie to me
Everybody’s good at somethin’, lyin’ is his specialty
He lies an’ cheats an’ lies about it, multiplies my sorrow
My dandy’s lyin’ here with me tonight, but no doubt, he’s gone tomorrow

Guess I should have been like the rest an’ stayed away from certain harm
Married a fine young man from home on a hard workin’ family’s farm
But my dandy lyin’ darlin’ swept me off my country feet
Now I’m slavin’ in a city factory an’ can barely afford to eat

He’s my dandy lyin’ darlin’, never kept a job in his life
Dependant on his mamma, co-dependant on me, his wife
He lies an’ cheats an’ lies about it, multiplies my sorrow
My dandy’s lyin’ here with me tonight, but no doubt, he’s gone tomorrow

All those slick magazines try’n tell us how to pick the right man
But if you knew my dandy lyin’ darlin’, you’d likely never believe one again

He’s my dandy lyin’ darlin’, all he ever does is lie
Usually stays out half the night, always has an alibi
He lies an’ cheats an’ lies about it, multiplies my sorrow
My dandy’s lyin’ here with me tonight, but no doubt, he’s gone tomorrow

His stuff’s out in the yard, hope he has to beg, lie, cheat, steal an’ borrow
My dandy’s lyin’ here with me tonight, but no doubt, he’s gone, gone,
gone, gone, gone. . . gone tomorrow
