Grandma's wishes were more than just her dreams
She had a simple life and lived within her means
She went to church on Sunday, sat in her same pew
Said, "heaven's just a prayer away from me and you"

Grandma's wishes are holdin' me tight
They keep me warm in the middle of the night
They keep me safe, show me wrong from right
And I thank the lord above, for grandma's wishes

Now I've growin' older with a family of my home
We all go to visit at the old family home
I tell her that I love her and what she means to me
She's everything I am and all that I hope to be

Grandma's wishes are holdin' me tight
They keep me warm in the middle of the night
They keep me safe, show me wrong from right
And I thank the lord above, for grandma's wishes

I just got the phone call, was in Dallas at the time
Thought that I was ready, but I ended up cryin'
As we stand together in this place that she called home
And there I lay the flowers down beside the stone

Grandma's wishes are holdin' me tight
They keep me warm in the middle of the night
They keep me safe, show me wrong from right
And I thank the lord above, for grandma's wishes
Yeah, I thank the lord above, for grandma's wishes
