In this dot.com bubble age some folks have all the luck
They can afford an SUV bigger than a garbage truck
They can get their news on cell phones, hitch a ride up to the moon
Aní sell tickets to a wide-screen movie in their liviní room

But it donít rock like Elvis and it donít roll like Jerry Lee
Aní thereís no one to inform us like Walter Cronkite on tv
Any line thatís genuine is censored off the radio
And freedomís just another word for a memory long ago

Corporate heads make enough to buy a great castle in the sand
With plenty left over to bribe each and every congressman
Though most kids can't afford a seat, hot dog or ice cream
Others inherit enough to buy their very own pro ball team

But it donít rock like Elvis and it donít roll like Jerry Lee
Aní thereís no one to inform us like Walter Cronkite on tv
Any line thatís genuine is censored off the radio
And freedomís just another word for a memory long ago

Thereís a lotíta talk in this new century about spreadiní democracy
While we sing about a land God once blessed from sea to shining sea, yeah

But it no longer rocks like Elvis and it donít roll like Jerry Lee
Aní thereís no one to inform us like Walter Cronkite on tv
You know, every line thatís genuine is censored off the radio
And freedomís just another word for a memory long ago

It's damn hard to find real country and good times just don't wan'na roll
And freedomís just another word for a memory long ago
