Chapter Sixty-Six

CAN NOT WAIT
[ a song ]

From early days when we are young
We try to get all that we can
                          Sacrificing our brief freedom
                          Running over our fellow man
Why not do the thing we like
Instead of do the thing we hate?
Love for our sister and our brother
                          Cannot wait, cannot wait

We feel good when we receive
But we feel better when we give
And when we love our neighbor
We help our own soul live
                          We must understand what matters
Before it really is to late
Love for our sister and our brother
                          Cannot wait, cannot wait

Why live a life we hate
                          Just to gain material things
                          And lose our heart’s desire
                          For the emptiness it brings?
Why not do the thing we like
Instead of do the thing we hate?
Love for our sister and our brother
                          Cannot wait, cannot wait

The search for God and truth
                          Cannot wait, we best believe
                          For we eventually find out
It’s better to give than receive
Why not do the thing we like
Instead of do the thing we hate?
Love for our sister and our brother
                          Cannot wait, cannot wait

From early days when we are young
We try to get all that we can
                          Sacrificing our brief freedom
                          Running over our fellow man
Why not do the thing we like
Instead of do the thing we hate?
Love for our sister and our brother
                          Cannot wait, cannot wait *

Save The Children

Milagro Foundation

DEDICATED TO:  Dhani Harrison and Julian Lennon in honor of the late George Harrison, friend of our Father's beloved children of Bangladesh.  Also dedicated to the Picasso of the guitar, Carlos Santana , founder along with wife Deborah of Milagro Foundation and contributor to a great many charitable efforts; may our guitars gently weep for the sick and hungry children of Planet Earth.

*FootNote:  Inspired by the words and example of the late George Harrison, who shunned the trappings of fame, preferring to view himself as a simple gardener.  Mr. Harrison is reported to have been fond of saying:  "Everything else can wait but the search for God cannot wait, and love one another."  Like a sower of the small mustard seed, which later grows into one of the largest of plants, so Mr. Harrison and his friends’ original effort to bring aid and attention to the plight of the starving children of Bangladesh eventually grew into Band Aid, We Are The World USA For Africa, Live Aid, Comic Relief, Farm Aid and literally hundreds of other entertainment relief efforts.  In honor of the memory of George Harrison and those who have fought the good fight and gone on to their just reward, those of us who remain must continue their work diligently, for the day is far spent and the night is coming soon.
