Chapter Eighty-Three
EAGLE
[ to the tune "Seagull" by Paul Rodgers and Mick
Ralphs; performed by Bad Company, from the album Bad Company ]
Eagle fly high over American homeland
One nation's symbol; proud, brave and true
Eagle cries out "Free we the people!"
Crying for me and crying for you
Eagle fly by the face of Rushmore Mountain
Washington, Jefferson, Roosevelt, Lincoln
Hear the tried blood of our patriots calling
Eagle fly east---march on Washington
Now you fly, oh so high, over land of the brave and the free
And you cry, "We the people, stand up and march for liberty!"
And you fly through the lies of our Gomorrah pollution skies
And you fly all around 'till somebody shoots you down
Eagle fly over New York City harbor
Politics of sewage polluting the sea
Torch of our lady snuffed by corruption
Leaving wretched millions in homeless poverty
Eagle fly south to congressional tower
Thieves of the people play their trump cards
Selling our future to the highest lobby power
Buying elections with Wall Street rewards
Now you fly, oh so high, over land of the brave and the free
And you cry, "We the people, stand up and march for liberty!"
And you fly through the lies of our Gomorrah pollution skies
And you fly all around 'till somebody shoots you down
Eagle fly by quiet factory and truck stop
18-wheel trucks all parked in a row
They've raised fuel prices and lowered our wages
Parked all in a row and no where to go
Eagle fly out to America's heartland
Tilling the tired land of Mother Earth
The pitiless bank is foreclosing our farmland
Land of our father and grandfather's birth!
Now you fly, oh so high, over land of the brave and the free
And you cry, "We the people, stand up and march for liberty!"
And you fly through the lies of our Gomorrah pollution skies
And you fly all around 'till somebody shoots you down
Eagle fly west over busy L.A. freeway
People coming and going and heading nowhere
Lost in a game of greed and survival
Eagle cries out "doesn't somebody care?"
Eagle fly low over cramped welfare city
Handouts of food stamps and a low rent perk
If we eat better for free why should we bother
Going back to school or looking for work?
Now you fly, oh so high, over land of the brave and the free
And you cry, "We the people, stand up and march for liberty!"
And you fly through the lies of our Gomorrah pollution skies
And you fly all around 'till somebody shoots you down
Eagle fly high over Hollywood Boulevard
Corporation wealth in control of our brain
Put meaningful art back into our culture
Your plate of mediocrity drives us insane
Eagle fly by the gilded church steeple
Claiming to worship the true God who cares
If you do, why don't you pawn all your stain-glass?
Let our homeless sleep on your fancy oak chairs
Now you fly, oh so high, over land of the brave and the free
And you cry, "We the people, stand up and march for liberty!"
And you fly through the lies of our Gomorrah pollution skies
And you fly all around 'till somebody shoots you down
Eagle fly up north through redwood canyon
The forest is empty, the trees are all gone
The rivers are poisoned with greed's pollution
"You've ruined my skies and destroyed my home!"
Eagle cries out to the Great Spirit
Great Father of our native Americans
"Light the tired heart of we the people
May Yeshua Messiah lead us on home"
Now you fly, oh so high, over land of the brave and the free
And you cry, "We the people, stand up and march for liberty!"
And you fly through the lies of our Gomorrah pollution skies
And you fly all around 'till somebody shoots you down
Yeah you fly, oh so high, over land of the brave and the free
And you cry, "We the people, stand up and march for liberty!"
And you fly through the lies of our Gomorrah pollution skies
And you fly all around 'till somebody shoots you down
